People normally obtain a Mental Health Treatment Plan (MHTP) from their GP and organise an appointment from there. It is not essential to have a MHTP, but sessions will be more affordable with a rebate.
Alternatively, you may be with an eligible insurance scheme, and already have relevant paperwork to commence appointments.

Appointments are delivered Monday through to Friday during normal business hours. Some after hours appointments are available.

Psychologists cannot prescribe medication.

Approximately two to three weeks for an initial appointment.

People normally provide their credit card details at the end of each session, which is then processed using an EFTPOS machine. Credit card details are never stored.

If you have a Mental Health Care Plan, your psychologist will process the rebate for you after each session. Money will then be deposited into your nominated bank account.

Please give at least 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule. If you give less than 24 hours notice, or do not give any notice at all, then cancellation fees may apply.

Psychiatrists and psychologists are both trained mental health professionals. A key difference is that psychiatrists are medical doctors who can prescribe medication, while psychologists rely on talking therapies to create meaningful and lasting change. It is not uncommon for a person to be seeing both a psychiatrist and psychologist at the same time.
